Yesterday was one of those Sundays when the clock actually moves backwards. I can tell you from experience that this type of time travel is extremely painful. It always amazes me how quickly (and how far) our Relief Society can deviate from the lesson topic and enter the 5th Ward Twilight Zone.
Lesson Topic: Having the Spirit With Us
Simple Metaphor:
Like malleable clay in the hands of a skilled potter, the brokenhearted can be molded and shaped in the hands of the Master. -Elder Bruce D. Porter, October 2007 General Conference
Result: Twenty minutes of two ladies arguing about the process and technique of a potter's wheel and molding clay.
Reactions: There are three typical reactions to this type of scenerio: 1) extreme puckering of facial features accompanied by uncomfortable shifting in ones seat, 2) polite (but dazed) smiley face while silently wondering where the closest sharp object is, or 3) concentrated attention and diligent pondering upon "what can I say to top that".
YIKES!
